Cannabinoids are extracted from the plant and diluted with a carrier oil (usually MCT coconut, hemp, sunflower etc). The resulting oil formulation is best absorbed when taken sublingually (under the tongue) where it is directly absorbed into the bloodstream. This method of onset can be variable due to the amount of time it is truly absorbed under the tongue vs in the intestines. Duration for oil can last 4-8 hours depending on the dose taken.
Oil products may come in a plastic, glass or a metal vial. Oil can be administered with a dropper, a medicine measuring cup, or syringe (no needle) which can be purchased from a pharmacy.
